The Career Place works with The Massachusetts Department of Unemployment Assistance (DUA) to assist individuals who are unemployed.
A DUA representative is available at The Career Place on Thursdays and Fridays.
A Web-based System for Unemployment Insurance
UI Online provides a way to file and access your Unemployment Insurance claim.
The UI Online website is available from 6 a.m. to 10 p.m. daily at mass.gov/dua, except during scheduled maintenance. Check for UI Online maintenance hours at mass.gov/lwd/unemployment-insur/claimants
Security Tips for UI Online
Note: The authority for UI Online is the The Massachusetts Department of Unemployment Assistance.
- Be sure to look for, read and follow all instructions given to safeguard your information.
- Create a long, strong, and unique password. Use at least one lowercase letter, at least one uppercase letter and at least one number. UI Online does not allow symbols in passwords (do not use punctuation marks such as #, ! .)
- When setting up a security question and secret answer, do not include spaces in your secret answer.
Unemployment Insurance Representatives
Thursdays and Fridays at The Career Place
Starting January 18, 2018: You do not need to schedule an appointment in advance. The UI Rep will accept walk-ins.
The UI Rep will provide over-the-shoulder assistance and answer questions for individuals who are using the online system.

You may use UI Online at a computer in a UI room near our lobby.
